“For those of you, who struggle with guilt regarding self-care, answer this question: What greater gift can you give to those you love than your own wholeness?”
– Shannon Tanner
Self-care is a concept that is often overlooked – either because we forget to take care of ourselves, we do not consider it a priority or we simply feel, too guilty. If this is you, it is time to should re-think this. By doing so, you will soon realize that taking care of you first may indeed be the most unselfish thing you can do.
Why? Because you deserve it! You would want others to treat you well and you should expect no less from yourself. Set a standard of being kind to yourself, and create an expectation of happiness. This will keep you on a positive path of living the life that you desire. Paying attention to your inner voice and making decisions based on those needs will also help you to keep centered and true to your purpose. By taking ownership of your own health and wellbeing, it puts you in control relieving potentially others of that burden and/or equipping you to better service others. Ultimately you are responsible for your own health and happiness, so the sooner you empower yourself to make you a priority, the better your relationship with yourself and others will be.
Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others.
